I really hate the name of that conference.. you can tell its a market research conference and not a branding conference.. brand and advertising folks would be a heck of alot more creative in naming their own event. Ahh well. :P
And now the BIG FRICKIN brain dump!
Well The Market Research Event conference is wrapping up and I'm glad Lextant took part in attending this event. Just tuning in online, it generated a ton of great tweets and related link chatter that I'm just gonna dump right here for everyone.
Using tools I've created myself such as HashParty and other methods, I like to effectively "suck down" a conference event and chew on its highlights remotely. Its fun to dive into who was at these events, who makes the noise, whats being talked about and tune into the overall vibe of the event and what it means to general trends for the future.
There's no particular order here, just me rattling off stuff I found in the data set and decided to save for either Lextant's use and awareness and or my own.

Eyetrackers! Eyetracking continues to be all the rage these days. A few weeks ago I was able to check out Tobii's Eyeglass tracker and its pretty frickin nifty. At Lextant we've courted the idea often but are always open to any and all alternatives, its all about what these tools bring to the table in data, analysis and most importantly insight a client can truly leverage.
This eye tracker was tossed around in tweets and looked interesting. Its important to note these kinds of capture tools are NOT CHEAP..
China Youth Panels
These folks were tossed out in tweets regarding their china youth panels. More and more brands are looking to expand and understand the chinese consumer. Lextant has done a frickin boat load of research in China in past 4 years. Its sort of becoming like the "the" place folks want to go when they want a global perspective, that and Brazil. Not sure if we'd ever leverage a panel service like this but I think these offers could have a place in the future.
Facebook Demographics report was tossed around a bit
Twitter Demographics report
I always like the social networking demographic reports provided they are accurate, its hard to tell if these truly are, since they appear just to be quantcast screenshots with some thoughts around them.
There was also this internet privacy bit blog piece
There were loads of vendors offering everything from whole hog social media analysis tools to text analysis offers, here a few mentioned in the tweets.
They passed out some awards for most disruptive innovation in market research tools/offers.
In the past 24 months there as been a massive boom, and I mean epicly massive boom in the number of players offering social media like portals of research engagement with consumers. These portals are like the networks we play in today but are focused on engaging consumers on the innovation front of whats next. Consumers are incentivized and motivated to take an active role in changing the brand future outlook. This isn't really all that unlike traditional research I take part in everyday, expect it doesn't happen face to face. Online portals will continue to grow, as will data mining the very spaces we play in today like facebook, twitter and so on. Its interesting to watch this sector of the industry really take off, and its totally a more brand/advertising/market research space for now, will it stay that way, i doubt it, I think they'll continue to evolve into other research areas.
